The Academic Affairz Project
HISTORY
I have been working on this program for over 10yrs. I could never get the right kind of help so I’m just slowly doing it myself. It all came about while working and attending school at Drexel University. I entered a Baida Business Plan Competition through Drexel’s LeBow College of Business. I thought to myself; “What could I do that was positive, and make a whole lot of money doing it?”
At the time, my job title was Senior Coordinator for Drexels Printing and Mailing Department. I oversaw 90% of all printed material for the University….exams, books, posters, banners, etc. I knew that print was extremely expensive…..I also knew that every school had school newspaper! Most great ideas address a problem. Having attend ed both public school and boarding school and other institutions in and around Philadelphia to me the problem became clear.
URBAN AFFAIRZ has recognized the need for a technology and community driven entity to come forward with innovative solutions to help bridge the socio-economic gap that exists between urban communities and their sub-urban counterparts. This is how the Academic Affairz Project was born. Education is the Foundation of a Civilized Nation
Oh…our project placed second in the competition. We were beat by the company that makes the modern day parking meter. Not bad!!!
Give me a break this is when I was first starting off.
NO MORE BRICK WALLS
The Academic Affairz Project is a technology based academic program that gives students the novel opportunity and experience to manage, maintain, publish and promote their very own online networking and informational resource publication. Our program offers a wealth of resources that benefit students professional development through mastering real world techniques such as marketing, finance, photography, journalism, content management systems.....and so much more! For each school; URBAN AFFAIRZ provides an "Urban Affairz Publishing Kit"; a set of pred-designed web pages; so that when schools join our network; their students can get up and running right away.
